  3. the decorated cardboard-standees = best christmas decorations yet

oh, and in response to John's interest in a review for Australia..... it was just okay. it felt like the movie thought way too much of itself... an attempt at an epic war/romance movie on a grandiose scale with poor chemistry, unnatural lighting (clearly in a sound stage at some points)... and just far too long. The last half of the movie was rather enjoyable, it just took too much to get there

  6. It is the most wonderful time of the year and I'm breaking free--free of Christmas' stockings. I love the tradition of filling Christmas stockings with unexpected, trivial, sometimes practical or impractical items that actually exceed what I intend to spend on each person. While Christmas presents are sometimes reduced to gift cards and selected items the person wants, stockings reflect the true meaning of a gift--something chosen by the giver that may not be expected. So having said that, I'm not giving up on stuffing the stockings--just passing on the old stockings that I never liked much but felt stuck with. My mother sent them to us when the kids were young. At that time, we had a rather eclectic array of decorations and country colonial was in. The stockings sort of fit with everything else and became tradition. The stockings have sequins and whimsical Christmas characters including Santa, Frosty, etc. Each is different; I mean really different. The stockings do not all hang facing the same direction. They served the purpose for a time, but I never enjoy putting them up. To me, these stockings are a negative rather than a positive. My sons seem to love them, but they have homes of their own and I'm passing them on. FREEDOM!

  7. Oops, I didn't mean for that last comment to be anonymous. This is Mim giving Jon and Rob fair warning that they have each inherited a Christmas stocking.

Leaving a good comment = God's blessing on your children's children.

Leaving a bad comment = a curse that will cause all of your children to be born bald and naked.
