Movie Police

A couple of weeks ago at Waters Edge we showed a funny video to go along with our series entitled At the Movies. The video is called Movie Police. I love going to the movies but I hate the fact that they allow annoying people into the theater. People who talk during a movie or even worse people who bring babies. Are you kidding me?! People are ridiculous. But thankfully ridiculous people like that exist. If they didn't we wouldn't have a concept for this video. Enjoy.

The video was written by Phil Poteat and Rob Shepherd. It was filmed by Dillon Tulip and Directed by Phil Poteat.

What is the most annoying thing that you have ever seen someone do at a movie theater?

  1. You about covered them all here Rob.  Great flick!  What exactly were those movies codes again?

  3. I usually like to have a buffer zone if possible when I go to the movies. You know, a seat on either side of me. What I hate is when I get there early, find my seat and
someone comes and sits right next to me even though there are plenty of other seats available. Also, even though it is not annoying, maybe more upsetting, is when someone comes in carrying about $100 worth of movie food and they trip and spill it everywhere. Why can't they provide lids for the soda and something sturdy to carry all that crap in?

  4. Funny. I experienced someone bringing in a bucket of KFC chicken before. That's fine... until they start licking their fingers like no one's business. Drove me nuts! :)

  5. The ugly aroma of Chinese carryout is not pleasant seated next to you in the theater.  It so overwhelms the enticing popcorn aroma known as theater ambiance.

  6. I went to a movie in college once where somebody snuck in a bottle of Smirnoff and left it on the floor afterwards. It was probably okay, because as I remember the movie was pretty bad.

  11. Burrill, thanks. We wanted to work that bit into the last video we did but it didn't work out. The actor delivered it perfectly.

  12. Russ, that's crazy. We once sat in front of some drunk guys who tried to pick a fight with us. They said we were looking at them during the movie. It was crazy.

  13. Brad, yes they do. I bet it was a PG-13 movie and they shouldn't have been in there to begin with.

  14. Loved it in church, just as funny the second time, more great work by the WEC creative team.

So, just curious about the creative process, do you start with a movie plot and build ways to humiliate the intern into it, or do you start with a humiliating idea for the intern and build the movie plot around it?

And, a point of order, I saw a car today with a robshep.com bumper sticker, are you kidding me!  I had to do a double take.  Are these commercially procurable items?  And who was that masked man?  I couldn't get up next to the car to see the driver.  I'm not a bumper sticker kinda person, but come on man, you can't hold that kind of stuff back from your public!

  15. Sirvhim, they were limited addition stickers. I am supposed to be getting more soon. I have a friend making some for me. I'll let you know when they come in.

  16. Take out a cell phone and actually answer it in the middle of a movie!!!  Rude.

  17. I completely agree, Cindy. I will unabashedly throw things at this person. I lose all shame when someone answers their cell phone during a movie.

    Made my day.
