If you have driven on the Peninsula side of the 757 then you might have scene a WEC magnet on a car or two. We've given out two different versions over the last seven years. I tend to see them everywhere. If a car is in front of me with a WEC magnet I'll often speed up to to see who it is. Most of the time I don't have a fat clue who is driving the vehicle with the magnet attached.
There is a small group of people...we'll call them students...who have started an epidemic. They call it WEC'd and they rummage through parking lots and driveways turning magnets upside down.
Now the problem with this is that often people don't realize their magnet has been turned upside down and they drive around looking like a fool. The other problem is it's messing with someone else's private property.
Some would say that writing a blog about it will only highlight these magnet delinquents, but I say the good people of the 757 should help put an end to it. Bond together fellow citizens and slap the mess out of the wrist of anyone who would dare to flip a WEC magnet upside down. Who is with me?
I agree with you Rob it was funny at first but it has gotten a little old seeing them upside-down.
ReplyDeleteSomeone posted on FB that you guys should make new stickers one for WEC Hampton and one for WEC Yorktown. I am thinking red and white and blue and white. Keep being awesome :)
I am with you! It annoys the mess out of me.
ReplyDeleteMine have all been stolen. I miss them!
ReplyDeleteFunny, I actually like it - it lets me know that someone in my "family" has been nearby that day. Makes me feel close to WEC all day long. :)
ReplyDeletehehehe
ReplyDeleteI think its funny, Im with Shannon, but since you have put it that way I guess for some people its annoying. So please people stop flipping the Magnets. I only do it to my family or friends. When I do it. Never have I ever done it to others I don't know.
ReplyDeleteI have now electrified my WEC magnets so that if anyone touches them, a blast of current runs up their arms and makes them wet themselves. You can probably tell that I have been pushed to the edge.
ReplyDeleteI've always loved it!Like the other person said its always neat to know a fellow WECer has said HI.My kids are always checking my car when we return to it to see if we've been WECed they get so excited if we were. I would have never thought people would be annoyed by it.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE it! I'm always afraid that the owner will come out while im flipping it over. I'm also afraid to leave little circles around someones bumper, so i try to put it right back in the same spot that is was to begin with. If we really do stop this, i know a LOT of people who will be sad :(
ReplyDeletei LOVE it. my son (4 1/2) loves to WEC people--he will do it to cars at the Y!
ReplyDeletemy husband, on the other hand, doesn't like it. but, he can be no fun sometimes.
It was funny the first handful of times but when it happens multiple times in one day and people don't put them back in the same place it just gets a little old.
ReplyDeleteSorry Rob, but I gotta disagree with you on this one. As a former "student", we used to TP cars in the parking lot or if you were fortunate enough to live close by we may even re-decorate your entire front yard! I can live with an upside down magnet for a few days.
ReplyDeleteCarry on WEC "students"!
I take pride in my WEC magnet and this annoys me. I have had this done & don't appreciate someone putting their hands on my vehicle. If its not yours don't touch it.

OHHH I love it!!!! Like Shannon said, its like we are all close together. Its just fun and games :)
ReplyDeleteHa ha funny you mentioned this! I got "WEC'D" at WEC....I didn't think it was very funny. Everywhere I looked in the parking lot that day (few months back), magnets had been turned upside down during the service!! I don't want my car touched! In fact, that pic you posted looks like my car!! Get off, guys! :)
ReplyDeleteI only do it to yours, Jamey's & Carlyns AND I don't turn it upsidedown. What are they dogging WEC?
ReplyDeleteI pull it off and throw it on the roof or some other hard to reach spot. That's funny.
how can i get a wec magnet!!!?? will it promise to keep the cops away?
